Turton Building Control is a Registered Building Control Approver (RBCA), assessed and approved by the Building Safety Regulator (part of the HSE) to provide building control services in England.

Following the introduction of the Building Safety Act 2022 and the changes to Building Regulation legislation and procedures fully effective from April 6^th 2024, that affect all parties involved in construction – building control, client, designer and contractor (please see our useful links and downloads page) – it is now more important than ever that the building control service you use is one that puts compliance at the forefront, but also remains user friendly and customer focused.

We believe that we are the company that can provide you with that service.

We aim to provide an efficient, simple, customer focused building control service to help you obtain building regulation compliance.

We carry out the services that local authorities have traditionally provided – checking of the plans for compliance with the building regulations, consultation with statutory bodies, site inspections of work under construction, issuing of final certificates, etc – but we operate independently and without boundary restrictions.

We encourage our clients to contact us at an early stage so that we can provide them with pre-planning and pre-tender guidance on schemes for compliance with the building regulations, ensuring that any perceived issues can be addressed before they become a problem.

RBCA and RBI Status Update

As one of the only (if not the only, so far) building control bodies to become a Registered Building Control Authority AND also have EVERY surveyor pass the CABE competency assessment scheme and become Registered Building Inspectors at Class 2A and above before the original target date of April 6th 2024, our youngest surveyor Sadie Lakin has also become one of the first female surveyors to pass the Degree in Building Control after 4 years of study.

Impressively, her final 6 months of the degree coincided with the 6 months of her undertaking the CABE competency assessment scheme, resulting in her registering as an RBI at Class 2A and also achieving chartered membership of CABE. We are extremely proud.

Changes to Building Control

Building Control nationally is going through a period of change, both private and public sector.

From the 1st October 2023, the Building Safety Regulator (BSR) will be the governing body for Building Control. New legislation has been introduced and existing legislation amended to reflect the changes.

Update to the Building Regulations

In 2021 the UK Government announced changes to the requirements of The Building Regulations 2010.

These come into force on 15th June 2022.

The new Part L guidance

In 2021 the UK Government announced changes to the requirements of The Building Regulations 2010 which came into force in June 2023.
This guidance document confirms what photographic evidence is required for submission as part of your application under Part L of the Approved Documents.
